Handwoven Black and White Cotton / Velvet / Poly Cotton  

COLOUR: BROWN | GOLD | WHITE | BLACK | RUST 

This costume design is a combination of tradition and innovation. In Balinese tradition, the contrasting colours of this simple, black and white cloth represent a synthesis of the opposing forces of the universe. For this reason, this fabric is one of the most important ritual textiles in Bali. The borders of this poleng(Scarf) have been enriched with stripes of red yarn and gold thread, suggesting a possible association with one of the royal courts of Bali.

Arisi Collections 2022: This costume was adorned by Balinese dancers in the scene where they performed with sticks to invoke rain.
